Citizenship and Integration Initiative: invitation to apply for secondment
We are seeking applications from civil society organisations willing to second a member of staff within the GLA’s Social Integration Team, under the Mayor’s Citizenship and Integration Initiative, from May 2019.
This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidates to develop and deliver high profile GLA initiatives while developing their own skills, knowledge and networks.
Deadlines for applications is 13 March at 5pm.
The Citizenship and Integration Initiative (CII) brings together funding from independent foundations to work closely with the Mayor to advance the shared goals set out in the Mayor’s Strategy for Social Integration which are:
- Supporting Londoners to be active citizens
- Tackling barriers and inequalities
- Promoting shared experiences
Two funded secondment opportunities are available to lead in the following areas of work:
Tackling Barriers and Inequalities
This post will support the GLA’s growing programme of work to support Londoners with insecure immigration status. The post holder will work closely with secondees, leading work with young Londoners with insecure status, European Londoners and creating a more hospitable environment. A key focus of the role will be the development and delivery of projects to increase access to legal advice, particularly in building the capacity and co-ordination of London’s immigration legal advice sector.
Supporting Londoners to be active citizens
This post will take forward findings from the Citizenship Ceremony pilot project and other GLA research on active citizenship. It will focus on how learning from both the citizenship ceremony and voter registration drive can be embedded into new and existing GLA programmes to increase civic participation.
The secondments are one part of the model of change being pursued by the CII, the other being to support community-based activities that will connect to and build on the GLA’s social integration programmes.
Both posts are fantastic opportunities for candidates from suitable organisations to play a crucial role alongside the GLA to achieve meaningful change in social integration in London.
