Overview

Camden is a north west, Inner London borough. Its performance varies significantly between different indicators. It has a low percentage of working residents who are paid less than the London Living Wage (18% compared to the London average of 22%) and the 4th lowest unemployment rate in the capital at 3.9%

The homelessness acceptance rate in Camden is the lowest in London, and it is one of the few boroughs with a rate lower than the average for the rest of England. There are also fewer evictions in Camden than any other borough (6 per 1,000 renting households).

However, private rent for low earners is less affordable in Camden than anywhere in London except Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster.  Income inequality in Camden is greater than in any other boroughs except, again, Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster.

The rankings below show how Camden is performing on key poverty and inequality indicators, in comparison with all 32 London boroughs. The first section gives a snapshot from the latest data: the deeper the red, the worse the problem; those coloured green are in the top half of London boroughs, which are performing better.

The circles show whether the issue is getting better or worse in comparison to previous period. Where there is no change, the circle is orange. Where there is no comparative data, the circle is grey.
